The January Dinehart Lecture will feature speaker Hilary Barry of Lake Wilson presenting “Recounting the 1968 Democratic National Convention.”
The lecture will be Friday, January 12th at noon in the Murray County 4-H building on the fairgrounds in Slayton. Bring your lunch and hear a great story. The cost is $3.00 and Historical Society members are free.
The 1968 National Convention of the U.S. Democratic Party was held August 26–29 at the International Amphitheatre in Chicago, Illinois. On the outside, tens of thousands of Vietnam War protesters battle police in the streets, while the Democratic Party falls apart over an internal disagreement concerning its stance on Vietnam on the inside. Barry of Lake Wilson was a delegate at this convention and will talk about his first-hand experience of this historic moment during the 50th anniversary.
