Murray County Historical Society Dinehart Lecture Series to Highlight Sioux Falls Stockyards
The Murray County Historical Society’s Dinehart Lunchbox Lecture Series will host Stockyards Ag Experience Executive Director Jennifer Smith Hoesing of Sioux Falls, on Thursday, March 8th, 2018. Her presentation will begin at noon at the 4-H building on the Murray County Fairgrounds. There is a $3.00 charge for the event and members of the Murray County Historical Society get in free. The Stockyards Ag Experience Barn opened in March 2017 with a mission of connecting visitors to agriculture. Jennifer will speak about the Barn’s two exhibits: the Stockyards history exhibit, which interprets the 92-year history of the Sioux Falls Stockyards, and the Farm to Table story, which connects that rich historical legacy to the interpretation of contemporary agriculture. Jennifer Smith Hoesing, a native of Marcus, Iowa, serves as executive director of the Stockyards Ag Experience in Sioux Falls. She has dedicated her career to managing non-profit arts and cultural organizations in Florida, South Carolina and now South Dakota. Jenn holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Luther College and a master’s degree in Arts Administration from the Florida State University College of Music. She is secretary of the Minnehaha County Historical Society board of directors and a member of the Sioux Falls Downtown Rotary. Jennifer lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Peter Hoesing, director of Sponsored Programs for Dakota State University; and their two young sons, Grant and Sam.
